ITALIAN ALBUM ASSEMBLY ADVICE? |
|
PUTTING YOUR OWN ALBUM TOGETHER IS EASY & FUN!
SUGGESTIONS FOR ENLARGEMENTS:
I recommend selecting approximately one favorite image from each of your category glossine envelopes to enlarge to a 5x7 or 8x10. Mix these with your existing 4x6's, (i.e. bride prepping, groomsmen, cake cut, flowers, location details, rings, dress, etc...). Mix the still lifes with people shots. This is always more interesting and tells a more unique story of your day. For example close ups can be nice 5x7's next to a smaller 4x6 people shot and visa versa. NOTE: if your album is 9x12 I would recommend your 8x10's be VERTICAL images NOT horizontal or be prepared to trim off some from the sides which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If you place a horizontal 8x10 it on the page sideways this will force the viewer to have to turn their head or the album to see the page.
THINGS YOU'LL NEED TO BUY:
- PHOTO CORNERS: You can buy 1-2 small pkg's, (200 corners is enough for 50 prints) at almost any photo store, art supply and some office supply stores. They come in cream and black. I recommend the cream as it will match the white borders of the prints and not distract away from the image itself.
- ACID-FREE, DBL-SIDED SCOTCH TAPE: or an acid free glue stick. Acid-free means it won't contribute to the deterioration of the photography.
- MEDICAL ADHESIVE TAPE (optional).
ASSEMBLING YOUR ALBUM:
Photos in your album can be displayed on both sides of the page. Mix and match sizes and presentation. Make it a fun, cool, scrapbook-like, book that's fun to look at instead of those traditional "wedding" albums we all know. Some people even write little notes, like a diary, "This was the moment Tom forgot the ring!!" or will insert a match book with their name on it or other memorabilia to make it more interesting. Overlapping images, especially if there is some dead space in the image and placing the funny ones at odd angles is cool too!
USING PHOTO CORNERS & TAPE:
If you think you will want to play a bit with the image placement and move photos around the page use the MEDICAL ADHESIVE TAPE FIRST! This tape enables you to move the prints around in different places
without tearing the print or the album page until you've made your
final layout decision. Once you've you use the final decided on the exact image placement you like place a small piece of acid free scotch
tape on the four corners of the print and eyeball it, visually placing the images on the page. Think carefully before scotch tape because once you press it to the page it's fixed. moving it around can risk tearing the page or image. For those of you more precise you can use a pencil to mark the places you want before hand. From here place the photo corners on the edges of the prints moisten and press the print to the page. Voila! You're done!
